Dharshini

Dharshini is 12 years old and lives in Tamil Nadu, India. When her parents separated and abandoned the children, her grandmother began to look after Dharshini and her sister. As the grandmother is illiterate and had to struggle to make a living herself, she asked for support to enable her granddaughter to get an education at an English-speaking school. There are many children like Dharshini who come from families with single mothers or are being raised as orphans by grandparents or close relatives who do not have sufficient means of subsistence themselves.

Sweeta

Sweeta

Sweeta born 2002, lives with her parents and brother. Her mother is a house wife and her father worked as a daily wage laborer in stone quarry. There was no income for this family to meet their basic needs. A partner of FICF that also sponsors Sweeta through FICF came forward to contribute an amount to this family to help them set up a petite fruit shop which is taken care by the mother, and a small quarry business that the father has experience in which is looked after by 2 laborers

Retna

Retna

Retna, born in 2003 lives with her parents, an older brother and an older sister who is physically challenged. Retna’s mother is a house wife and her father was running a hired auto to generate a small income for the family. Some years back he met with an accident which made him out of the job. The only source of the family income was cut off and put the whole family in total jeopardy. It was at this time, the sponsor of the child came forward to help FICF contribute partly towards buying a new auto-rickshaw which can be owned by this family and can generate a sustainable income.

Poonam

Poonam

Poonam is born in 2002, lives in a small village in Orissa, a state in the South-East of India. She lives with her brother and parents who do a mission work in this remote village for the welfare of the village and just have a small income to support their basic needs. Poonam goes to a Mission school 6 days a week outside of her village by a school vehicle. Her favourite subject is Science and she wants to become a doctor. Her hobbies are drawing and dancing. She has a best friend with whom she studies and plays skipping rope and badminton, which are the only playthings that she has. Poonam helps her mother in many ways like helping her in the kitchen, drawing water from the well and cleaning vessels.

Poonam’s studies are continued through the generous help from the sponsors. Her parents are not earning much but they have a great desire to fulfill their daughter’s dream of becoming a doctor in the future. This is possible if the current sponsorship through FICF is continued.

Poonam says to her sponsor through FICF, “I may not know you personally but I really want to thank you for all the help that you do for my studies.  Words cannot express my gratitude. May God bless you for all you do!”

Santhosh

Santhosh

Santhosh born in 2003 lives in a home for boys, in Tamilnadu, a state in the South of India. He has a younger brother and a younger sister. Sathosh comes from a very poor family. His father passed away and his mother is not well enough to take care of all the children. So he was sent to the home where he lives now. The home sends Santhosh to a school and Mathematics is his favorite subject. His favorite sports are Kabadi, Gilli, and Cricket and is proud to own a cricket bat of his own. When Santhosh grows up he wants to build a bigger building for the home so many other children like him could be helped. As per the home, the sponsorship by FICF means everything for the future for Santhosh and they request FICF to continue the sponsorship to sustain the studies of the growing young man. Santhosh thanks his sponsor for changing his life. He prays for the sponsor to have a good life, and their family to be blessed.

Arisenla

Arisenla

Arisenla born in 2009 comes from a very poor family in Nagaland, a state in the North-East of India. The father who was the only breadwinner in the family is suffering from Tuberculosis and is unable to work. He brought young Arisenla to an orphanage that partners with FICF in 2013. Arisenla is a brave little girl and is very good in studies. So, the orphanage sends her to a good English medium school but they need a sponsor to sustain the studies of Arisenla. So the orphanage requests FICF to support Arisenla so that she can have a future.

Anup

Anup

Anup born in 2011, lives in a remote village in Punjab, a state in the North of India. His father is working in a cattle farm that brings him a small income which is not even enough to meet their basic need of food, clothes and shelter. His mother is a not literate and is a housewife. Anup’s parents want to provide him basic education in a school but with such a low income it remains just a dream. Hence, they request support from a charity for the education of their son. FICF learnt about Anup through it’s contacts in India and would like find a sponsor to support the educational need of this child.

Shazna

Shazna

Shazna, born in 2004 lives in Tamilnadu, a state in South India with her mother along with her younger brother. Her father left the family when she was a child. The mother is a housewife and not skilled to find a job to support the family. Shazna goes to a school by the support received by a sponsor from FICF. Her school is 3kms away and she goes in an autorickshaw to the school. Shazna studies very well and is a cheerful girl. She likes to dance and wants to become a teacher. She is so thankful to the sponsor and esteems the sponsor at the position of her father for what they are doing in her life.
