Poonam is born in 2002, lives in a small village in Orissa, a state in the South-East of India. She lives with her brother and parents who do a mission work in this remote village for the welfare of the village and just have a small income to support their basic needs. Poonam goes to a Mission school 6 days a week outside of her village by a school vehicle. Her favourite subject is Science and she wants to become a doctor. Her hobbies are drawing and dancing. She has a best friend with whom she studies and plays skipping rope and badminton, which are the only playthings that she has. Poonam helps her mother in many ways like helping her in the kitchen, drawing water from the well and cleaning vessels.
Poonam’s studies are continued through the generous help from the sponsors. Her parents are not earning much but they have a great desire to fulfill their daughter’s dream of becoming a doctor in the future. This is possible if the current sponsorship through FICF is continued.
Poonam says to her sponsor through FICF, “I may not know you personally but I really want to thank you for all the help that you do for my studies. Words cannot express my gratitude. May God bless you for all you do!”
